What We Do

The Academy is currently comprised of three full scholarship, one-week long programs; Wabass, Soundboard, Resonance

Wabass

June 16-20, 2025

Wabass

continues to inspire the next generation of double bassists fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where ideas are freely shared from teacher to student and vice versa. As the program approaches season 18, Wabass alumni are worldwide continuing to spread the “sharing of knowledge.” With faculty Eric Larson, Hal Robinson, and Ranaan Meyer.

Soundboard

June 9-13, 2025

Soundboard

inspires the next generation of pianists by focusing on the free flow of ideas from student to teacher to peers in a collaborative environment we call "the sharing of knowledge".  Built upon the principle that we should view and encourage our peers as colleagues as opposed to competitors keeping musicianship and artistry at the forefront of our ideals. With faculty Matti Raekallio and Peter Dugan.

Resonance

June 2-6, 2025

Resonance

inspires the next generation of versatile musicians. Resonance gives unconventional musicians and already formed groups an opportunity to learn from one another alongside the world renowned faculty, to push their artistry forward while also addressing the entrepreneurial facet of the music industry.

With faculty Peter DuganCharles YangRanaan Meyer, and Nick Kendall (Time for Three)

Artistic Director

Ranaan Meyer

Artistic Director of Honeywell Arts Academy, Ranaan Meyer, is a GRAMMY-winning, Emmy-winning, and Gold record double bassist and a founding member and performer with the string trio Time for Three.

During Meyer's final lesson with mentor Hal Robinson (also an Academy faculty mentor), he asked what he could do to pay back the incredible wisdom he had gained over the years. Robinson responded 'simply pay it forward.'

This was a thought that Meyer carried with him as Eric Larson, Meyer, and Robinson came together to dream up an ideal double bass program. In 2008 this collective vision became a reality with the following principles

  • Top-level musicians and individuals

  • Full scholarship for everyone who attends

  • A philosophy called  “sharing of knowledge”

Meyer says, "The 'sharing of knowledge' philosophy creates a foundation that empowers everyone to learn from one another. Through research, we identified this is not always the educational foundation everyone has experienced."  This shared philosophy supports the vision of Honeywell Arts Academy to enrich the opportunity for artistic ambassadors to advance human connection.
